Kent MacDonald is a seventh-generation dairy farmer from Little Pond, PEI. He is the President of Pondsedge Farms, his family’s 1000-head dairy farm that grows 1700 acres of cropped land.

He attended Dundas Consolidated and Souris Regional High School before Mount Allison University where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in marketing and management. Kent played varsity football at Mount Allison and was an Atlantic University Sport All-Star defensive lineman. He lived and worked in Ontario for several years after graduating from Mount Allison.

Kent returned home to PEI in 1988 to work at Pondsedge Farms, the family business. Pondsedge has won numerous awards under Kent’s leadership, including the PEI Heritage Award, Soil Conservationist of the Year, PEI Veterinary Association Cow Comfort Award, and various quality and high-production awards.

Kent is an active member of his community. He has been a Director, Vice-Chairman, and Chairman of Dairy Farmers of PEI, as well as Director and Vice-Chairman of the PEI Federation of Agriculture. Kent’s community involvement overlaps with his love of sports, and he has coached both minor hockey and tackle football on PEI.

He has been married to his wife, Catherine, for 35 years, and they have one son, Alex. In his spare time, Kent enjoys reading, golf, and hiking with his two dogs, Chief and Baker.
